Airway Evaluation

In many children and adolescents, orthodontic problems exist due to the lack of an adequate nasal airway. These patients exhibit symptoms such as mouth breathing, snoring and “allergic shiners” (dark circles under the eyes). Enlarged tonsils and/or adenoids may obstruct the nasal airway. Significant dental crowding or a crossbite (see glossary) may be present. Dr. Boyd may advise that you see an ear, nose and throat physician for evaluation of the nasal airway.
